Romberg¢¥s Disease Combined with Spontaneous Cerebrospinal Fluid Rhinorrhea

Abstract
Romberg¢¥s disease (Progressive facial hemiatrophy) may involve any of the superficial facial tissue, affecting overlying skin, subcutaneous tissue, underlying muscles and the cartilage and bones as well, in some instances.
On occasion, the atrophy extends to the ipsilateral neck and upper extremity and rarely to the entire half of the body. Ocular and CNS manifestation may also occur.
¡ì%e experienced a Romberg¢¥s disease with cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea due to defect of dura mater on the same side of the frontal lobe which may be a unique feature with this disorder.
The patient to be described is of interest because of the extent of the atrophy affecting dura mater on the same side.
In addition to the correction of the hemifacial atrophy, the defect of dura mater was repaired with fascia graft and dermis graft. We obtained favorable results with the cessation of the cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea.
